Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
